Welcome to this Community!
Jacqueline Holland has lived her life being the first: A first generation child of immigrants, the first college graduate, Co-founder of the first independent, website to help 1.1 million parents navigate NYC’s public schools, the first to launch the direct service Children’s Education program at Lantern Community, the inaugural Board Chair for Young Life (YL) in the Bronx and the first woman of color Trustee on YL Global Board, (where she serves on the Governance and DEI committees). Time and again, she has set herself apart as a natural trailblazer and a leader in the service of women and youth. These roles instructed her the significance of sticking to your mission, developing a culture of belonging, and starting to comprehend global implications. Her 40+ years of work experience has taught her how to build culture and people.
Jacquie has been engaged in various facets of professional life from education to social media marketing, fundraising and creative writing. However, it wasn’t a smooth path. She spent many years as a low-income mom, focusing on her faith, her kids and finding a way forward. During this time, she pursued her passion for wellness, insisting that her kids still eat as nutritious as possible. Leaning on homemade, plant-based apothecary remedies, she created wellness strategies for herself, and shared her knowledge with anyone that would listen. Through these experiences she developed her own unique vision for a holistic, wellness lifestyle to make a better life for her family, and humankind.
A lover of the community, she served as a Member of the Commission on School Governance for Mayoral Control, trained counselors and served on the program team for 17 years at a summer camp. She is republishing children’s book, Ambrose: The Day the World Changed Forever, produced her CD, My Strength, My Song, and her Radio & T.V. shows that she hosted called, Don't Give Up Radio & Win. Whether functioning in the field of education, media or advocacy, her quiet, yet powerful leadership style is fueled with the intention of creating a sense of belonging for marginalized voices.
Jacquie holds a Bachelor of Arts in Literature & Writing from Colombia University, and has even studied documentary film & production at The New School. Some of her acknowledged achievements have been: The Bronx Chamber of Commerce Black Heritage Honors Award, Office of the State Comptroller for Outstanding Achievements, Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition and the New York State Assembly Certificate of Merit.
“Whether it has been as a PTA President pushing local representatives and the Department of Education to give the school proper acknowledgement to running a team to provide policy panel discussions, at the heart of it, the core has always been about how to bring health and wholeness to women and youth crying out for change, for wellness in all areas of life.” Jacquie Holland
